Roll on more frosts please. There’s nothing like crisp mornings to give garlic that special lift. It’s as if the icy coating cleans the plants of any unwanted visitors. Bit like a shower for us!

Winter Garlic
Winter vegetables.
I love the look of kohlrabi more than I love eating it. Who could not be inspired by the look of this beautiful plant? Even though they’ve been growing all summer there’s some that just seem to keep on staying fresh in the ground, even if they get a little fat.

Olive harvest – Stage 1 underway
Ready for an early start but fog gets in the way…so slightly later than expected. Beautiful fresh olives ready for conversion into VIRGO EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL.
Pruning the tops off our olive trees
Each year the mechanical pruner arrives to cut the tops off our trees, otherwise they just get tooooooo…. big. It’s the most horrifying machine and after it’s all over I feel like my arms and legs have been chopped off. Here it is stationary awaiting activation under the blue skies….
